Cruising Frequently Asked Questions
Cruising is an incredible way to explore new places while enjoying all the comforts of home – and more! But before taking off on this amazing journey, it’s important to ask yourself some questions and prepare accordingly so that you can make the most out of your vacation experience.. This guide has provided answers to some common questions about cruising but if there’s something else you need help with, or if you have additional questions, be sure to contact a professional cruising consultant who can provide tailored advice and ensure your getaway goes off without a hitch! Bon voyage!
When should I book my Cruise?
The earlier you book, the greater your choice of destination. As families love to cruise during school holiday periods and these sell out early in advance – it is important that we get our reservations right away so that there’s something available when they become aware!
The perfect time period for travelling can vary based on numerous factors such as price point (how much money I have) or if particular destinations interest me more than others; but one thing remains true: The sooner YOU start planning YOUR next adventure, the better!
What should I bring on my Cruise?
Most basic items such as clothing, toiletries, and medications are available onboard the cruise ship but there are some items that should always be packed. A valid passport is essential for international travel and any necessary documents (such as visas) must be obtained prior to departure.
Additionally, travellers may want to bring along cash or traveller’s checks in case they need access to money while away from home.
Are Cruise Ships safe?
Safety is always top priority when it comes to cruising, so rest assured that all major cruise lines take extensive measures to protect their passengers from harm. All of the staff aboard cruise ships undergo rigorous security checks before they are hired and must pass regular drug tests throughout their employment period.
Cruise ships also have advanced safety systems in place such as fire detection systems, lifeboats for emergency evacuation purposes, and CCTV cameras throughout the vessel to help keep everyone safe during their voyage.
How does check-in work?
Before you arrive, make sure you have everything you need with you. Some cruise lines have staggered check-in times for Covid safety, so make sure you arrive on time.
Firstly, you’ll be directed to drop off your luggage. You will need to go through immigration just as you would at an airport.
Then you will need to show your ticket, passport, and any vaccination or Covid test information depending on the cruise line or location. Then you board and begin your journey!
What if I need to take my medication on a cruise?
We want you to be safe and comfortable on your cruise, so the cruise line will send a health questionnaire at time of booking. Make sure that any medication is kept in its original packaging as it must remain accessible during the entire journey (or else carry-on). You should also bring an extra days’ worth just in case something comes up!
What can I bring back into Australia?
Australia has some of the strictest quarantine laws in the world, so make sure what you buy overseas can be brought into the country. For a full list, check out the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) website for more information. There are also limits on duty-free items, so please check the Customs and Border Protection website for information on that.

Can I do my laundry onboard a Cruise?
Who wants to do laundry on their holiday? Let the cruise line take care of it for you! Most cruise lines have an onboard laundry service, and some have self-service laundromats available as well. These services may come with a charge, so make sure you check with the cruise line before you depart.
Can I use my mobile phone on a Cruise?
Absolutely! Some ships have onboard WiFi available (for a cost) and some others have onboard satellite service depending on satellite availability. Make sure you send us those travel snaps!
CRUISE TIP – Avoid Data Roaming Charges
The best way to avoid mobile data roaming charges is by having your phone set to airplane mode, use ship Wi-Fi (may incur additional charge) and download any apps, movies and tv shows prior to your cruise.
