Komodo

You’re coming here to see dragons in the wild, and it delivers. Guided walks through the national park put you face-to-face with the largest lizards on earth, and the surrounding waters rank among the most biodiverse reef systems in Southeast Asia. Few ports on this itinerary feel this remote, or this alive.
Bali

Two calls here, from two different coastlines. Benoa puts you close to Ubud, the rice terraces, and the temples. Celukan Bawang opens up the quieter north, with black sand beaches and the Banjar hot springs. Between them, you get a genuine cross-section of the island rather than just the tourist strip.
Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)

The city moves fast and doesn’t apologise for it. Street food eaten on a plastic stool, the sobering War Remnants Museum, the chaos of Ben Thanh Market at dawn โ it rewards people who get off the ship and walk. One day here barely scratches the surface, which is exactly why it stays with you.
Kyoto

Kobe is the port but Kyoto is why you go. Thirty minutes by Shinkansen and you’re in the old capital โ stone lanes, vermilion torii gates at Fushimi Inari, the hillside temples of Higashiyama. In late April the cherry blossoms may still be lingering. Arrive early, walk slowly, and book lunch before you leave the ship.
Nagasaki

No other port on this voyage carries this much history in this small a space. The Peace Park and Atomic Bomb Museum demand time and attention. Beyond that, Nagasaki spent centuries as Japan’s only open trading port, and you can still read Dutch, Chinese, and Portuguese influences in the streets. It earns a full day ashore.

Oceania Riviera – Ship Overview
Riviera carries 1,250 passengers, which is small enough to reach ports the big ships miss and intimate enough that the crew learns your name. On a 51-night voyage through Asia-Pacific, that combination makes a real difference to how the trip feels day to day.
Dining

The food on Riviera is the real reason people book it. All four specialty restaurants are included in your fare: Jacques for French, Red Ginger for Asian, Polo Grill for steakhouse, Toscana for Italian. The Grand Dining Room runs open seating, so you eat when you’re ready. On a 51-night voyage, that flexibility matters more than you’d expect.
Entertainment

Riviera isn’t trying to compete with the big resort ships on entertainment, and it doesn’t need to. There’s a string quartet in the Grand Bar most evenings, live music in Horizons, and theatrical shows in the Riviera Lounge. The pace is built around port days, so nights are more relaxed. Most passengers find that suits them perfectly.
Wellness

The Canyon Ranch SpaClub handles the wellness side of things, with a full treatment menu, thermal suite, and a fitness centre that stays genuinely usable even when the ship is busy. There’s also a putting green, pickleball, bocce, and a jogging track on deck. After back-to-back port days through Asia, having somewhere to properly recover onboard makes a difference.
Oceania Riviera Cabins
Every stateroom on Riviera was refurbished in 2022 and even the entry-level inside cabins are genuinely roomy by cruise ship standards. The Italian marble bathrooms are the detail people mention most, and they’re right to. You won’t feel squeezed, regardless of which category you book.
