Itinerary Overview

  • No. of Ports: 6
  • Sea Days: 12

Brisbane

Brisbane is a proper city stop before the tropics take over. Spend the morning in South Bank or take the ferry up to New Farm, and you’re back onboard before dinner. It’s an easy, familiar start to what becomes a very different kind of journey.

Airlie Beach

This is your gateway to the Whitsundays, which means the water out there is actually that colour you’ve seen in photos. Most people head straight for a sailing trip or a snorkel at Heart Reef. Go early if you can, the tender queues fill up fast.

Darwin

Darwin has a personality that doesn’t match anywhere else in Australia. Crocosaurus Cove is right in the city centre if you want something the kids will talk about for years, or head to Mindil Beach for the sunset markets if timing works in your favour. The humidity hits the moment you step off the ship, so pack accordingly.

Bali

Benoa puts you close to Sanur and a short drive from Ubud’s rice terraces and temple complexes. The traffic between the port and Kuta or Seminyak is chaotic, so factor that into your plans. One day isn’t enough for Bali, but it’s a good reason to come back on your own terms.

Penang

George Town is a UNESCO-listed city that earns the title. The street art is everywhere and actually worth finding, the hawker food is some of the best in Southeast Asia, and the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion gives you a proper sense of the place’s history. It’s the kind of port stop where you’ll wish you had two days.

Grand Princess – Ship Overview

She’s been sailing long enough to know what passengers actually want. Grand Princess is a mid-sized ship by today’s standards, which means you get a proper range of restaurants, bars, and spaces without ever feeling like you’re navigating a floating shopping centre.

Dining

Grand Princess runs the full Princess spread, from the main dining rooms with their sit-down, three-course rhythm to the Horizon Court buffet when you want something quick between ports. Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria is worth booking ahead for a night or two, and the International Cafรฉ on the Piazza is handy for a coffee and a pastry at any hour. Most of the core dining is included in your fare, with the specialty restaurants available for a cover charge.

Entertainment

The Princess Theatre is the main stage, with production shows running most nights of the voyage. Beyond that, you’ll find live music around the Piazza most evenings, a casino, and Movies Under the Stars on the pool deck, which works particularly well on warm tropical nights as you head north. It’s not a party ship, but there’s always something on if you want it.

Wellness

The Lotus Spa covers the basics well, with massages, facials, and a thermal suite available for an additional cost. The fitness centre is well-equipped and tends to be quieter in the mornings when most people are focused on ports. There are two main pools onboard plus whirlpools, so you’ll have no trouble finding a spot to switch off between destinations.

Grand Princess Cabins

Cabins on Grand Princess run from interior rooms that are compact but well laid out, through to balcony staterooms and full suites with separate living areas. On an 18-night repositioning cruise with this many sea days, the upgrade to a balcony is worth thinking about seriously.
