Sapphire Princess traces one of Australia’s most remote coastlines from Fremantle to Brisbane, taking in Ningaloo Reef, the Kimberley, and the Top End on a single voyage that would take weeks to piece together any other way.

Itinerary Overview

Perth (Fremantle) โ†’ Broome โ†’ Kimberley Coast โ†’ Darwin โ†’ Cairns โ†’ Willis Island โ†’ Brisbane

  • Scenic Cruising: Kimberley Coast
  • No. of Ports: 3
  • Sea Days: 8

Broome

Cable Beach stretches for 22 kilometres of pindan-red sand meeting turquoise water, and the town behind it has a pearling history that’s genuinely interesting to dig into. Time it right and the Staircase to the Moon over Roebuck Bay is one of those things that stops you in your tracks.

Kimberley Coast

The scale of this coastline only really hits you from the water โ€” sandstone cliffs dropping straight into the sea, with rock art sites and tidal formations that have barely changed in thousands of years. Horizontal Falls is the standout if shore excursions head that way.

Darwin

The markets at Mindil Beach on a Thursday or Sunday evening are as good an introduction to Darwin as any โ€” food from across Southeast Asia, local art, and a sunset that tends to draw a crowd. The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory has one of the best collections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in the country if you want something more substantial.

Cairns

The Great Barrier Reef sits about 90 minutes offshore by boat, and day trips out to the outer reef run daily from the marina. If the reef isn’t your thing, the rainforest-meets-reef setting of the Daintree is an easy half-day out of town.

Sapphire Princess – Ship Overview

Sapphire Princess is a well-travelled ship that’s been freshened up twice in recent years โ€” a full refurbishment in 2018 and another drydock in 2025 that added Crown Grill and a new Japanese restaurant, Makoto Ocean, to the dining lineup. She carries around 2,670 passengers across 16 decks, with over 700 balcony staterooms and a layout that passengers consistently find easy to navigate.

Dining

Sapphire Princess splits its main dining across four rooms – Vivaldi, Pacific Moon, International, and Santa Fe – which keeps things feeling more relaxed than a single giant restaurant. The 2025 refit added Crown Grill for steaks and Makoto Ocean for Edomae-style sushi, giving the specialty dining lineup a genuine point of difference.

Entertainment

The Princess Theater runs Broadway-style production shows across the voyage, and most bars on the ship have live music at night – from Latin and ballroom in Club Fusion through to the DJ sets at Skywalkers Nightclub up on the top deck. Movies Under the Stars is the low-key highlight for many passengers, particularly on the warmer northern nights as you move up the coast.

Wellness

The Lotus Spa covers the full range of massages, facials, and salon treatments, with the thermal suite a good option on sea days when you want somewhere quiet to decompress. The fitness centre has ocean-view cardio equipment and an outdoor jogging track, and The Sanctuary adults-only deck is there when you want guaranteed peace away from the pool.

Sapphire Princess Cabins

With over 700 balcony staterooms and cabins running from compact insides through to full suites, Sapphire Princess has enough variety that it’s worth spending a few minutes finding the right fit before you book.
