The Grand Princess loops through some of Australia’s most remote and storied coastline – from the red-earthed cliffs of the Kimberley to the tropical harbours of the Top End – on a route most Australians never get to see from the water.

Cruise Itinerary Highlights

Itinerary Overview

Perth (Fremantle) โ†’ Exmouth โ†’ Broome โ†’ Yampi Sound โ†’ Kimberley Coast โ†’ Darwin โ†’ Cairns โ†’ Willis Island โ†’ Brisbane โ†’ Sydney

  • Scenic Cruising: Yampi Sound, Kimberley Coast
  • No. of Ports: 5
  • Sea Days: 9

Exmouth

The gateway to Ningaloo Reef, where you can snorkel alongside whale sharks in waters so clear you can see the bottom from the surface. It’s one of the few places on earth where a reef this size sits this close to shore.

Broome

Famous for Cable Beach and its pearling history, Broome has a laid-back, outback-meets-ocean atmosphere that’s unlike anywhere else in Australia. Catch a camel train along the beach at sunset if the timing works out.

Yampi Sound

A remote wilderness of sandstone gorges, tidal waterfalls, and barely-touched islands in the heart of the Kimberley. Most people never make it here overland, which makes the ship the whole point.

Kimberley Coast

Ancient rock art, towering ochre cliffs, and crocodile country โ€” this stretch of coastline is about as wild as Australia gets. Horizontal Falls is the headline act if shore excursions go that way.

Darwin

A compact, multicultural city with a fascinating wartime history and one of the best sunset markets in the country at Mindil Beach. The Bombing of Darwin Museum is worth a few hours if you’re interested in the WWII story.

Grand Princess – Ship Overview

Grand Princess has been sailing since 1998 and was refurbished in 2019. She’s a mid-sized ship carrying around 2,600 passengers, which means she’s big enough to have plenty going on but not so large that you feel lost. The MedallionClass technology is genuinely useful for a port-heavy itinerary like this one, and The Sanctuary adults-only retreat is worth knowing about if you want somewhere quiet between big days ashore.

Dining

Grand Princess runs three main dining rooms with rotating menus and proper table service, plus Crown Grill for steaks and Sabatini’s for Italian if you want to book something special. The International Cafรฉ in the Piazza is open around the clock for coffee and light bites, and the Salty Dog Grill handles casual poolside eating during the day.

Entertainment

The Princess Theater puts on Broadway-style productions across the voyage, but the one most passengers talk about is Movies Under the Stars โ€” films on a big outdoor screen after dark, with blankets and popcorn included. The Piazza hosts live music during the day, and there’s a casino, sports court, and mini-golf for the gaps between ports.

Wellness

The Lotus Spa covers massages, medi-spa treatments, and a full salon, with a thermal suite that’s genuinely good value on sea days. The fitness centre has ocean-view treadmills and a jogging track, and The Sanctuary is the adults-only deck area if you want somewhere quiet to sit without the pool crowd.

Grand Princess Cabins

Grand Princess has 1,301 cabins across a range of categories, and the ones that tend to get the best feedback are the balcony staterooms โ€” on a coastal itinerary like this, having somewhere private to watch the Kimberley cliffs go by is hard to beat.
