The Ghan

One of the world’s great train journeys, this three-day crossing takes you from Adelaide through Alice Springs and Katherine to Darwin. The landscape shifts from the green hills of the Flinders Ranges to deep red outback before the tropical escarpments of the Top End appear to the north
Darwin & Kakadu

Your gateway to the Top End and one of Australia’s most significant national parks, with ancient rock art at Ubirr and wetlands that flood with birdlife each wet season. Five nights gives you time to do both properly before you board
Raja Ampat

The islands of Misool, Gam and Kri sit inside one of the most biodiverse marine regions on the planet, with manta rays and visibility that can stretch 30 metres on a clear day. Above the water, the limestone karsts and hanging valleys are just as striking.
Banda Neira

Once the only source of nutmeg in the world, these islands were fought over by colonial powers for centuries. You can still walk the old Dutch fort, wander spice plantations, and snorkel reefs that very few Australians ever reach.
Komodo Island

Home to the largest lizard on earth, Komodo National Park is worth the trip on its own. Walk with rangers through dry scrub to find the dragons, then dive some of the strongest drift currents in Indonesia just offshore.

Scenic Eclipse II – Ship Overview
Scenic Eclipse II is purpose-built for itineraries like this one. It’s small enough to anchor in remote bays, agile enough to follow the coastline wherever it leads, and run by an expedition team that knows the waters between northern Australia and Papua New Guinea better than almost anyone. The ship is the vehicle, but the team on board is what makes the difference.
Dining

Ten venues are on board, all fully included, covering everything from the French fine dining of Lumiรจre to the casual burgers and pizza of Azure Cafรฉ. Elements is the main evening restaurant, with Italian, steak and seafood on an ร la carte menu. For something more informal there’s the Yacht Club buffet, and for those lucky enough to be invited, Chef’s Table seats just ten guests in a semi-private space with a view into the kitchen.
Entertainment

A state-of-the-art theatre runs a daily programme of live performances, films and destination lectures from the expedition team. The Observation Lounge at the bow is the social hub at sea, with a whisky bar worth lingering in. Days at anchor tend to fill themselves, but evenings on board move at whatever pace you set.
Wellness

The Senses Spa is one of the more serious wellness facilities you’ll find at sea, with saunas, steam rooms, plunge pools and a full treatment menu. Yoga and Pilates classes run daily. Spa suite guests receive a complimentary one-hour treatment per cabin, and the Vitality Pool on Deck 10 is a good place to be as the ship moves between islands.
Scenic Eclipse II Cabins
Every one of the 114 suites has a private verandah, butler service and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that open directly onto it. They range from 32 square metres at the entry level up to 247, so the gap between the smallest and largest is significant. Here’s what each category includes.
